Don Martin Natural Resources Protection Area. It was decreed in 1949. The main types of vegetation are coniferous forests, oak forests, xeric scrub, grassland, areas without apparent vegetation, hydrophilic vegetation, and induced vegetation. The main pressures and/or threats to APRN are the unplanned exploitation of natural resources (timber and non-timber), soil erosion and degradation (SIMEC, 2011). The Sierra del Burro is located within the ANP Don Martín. It is an Area of Importance for the Conservation of Birds (AICA, in Spanish) recognized by the Birdlife International program since 2007. It is an area privately owned by ranchers organized to protect the wild flora and fauna within their region. It is an important corridor for migrating species. Up to 248 birds have been reported within this AICA.
